MABE is pleased to announce the launch of our new website. In addition to a long overdue new banner and look, we have also created two exciting new features. In response to input from the membership (via the survey taken after the annual conference), Kristina Martinez-Precious, MABE President, decided that MABE needed to jump into the electronic age. According to Martinez-Precious, these two new features are designed to provide MABE members with an on-line interactive learning community and subsequently, establish better member to member communication. Thus, E-Resources (which will include both practical and research-based topics) and E-Forum, an interactive learning community, have been born! Both are designed to provide our members the opportunity to contribute and benefit by the wealth of knowledge you possess. So, you might ask, what are these new features and what do they mean to me?
Let?s start with E-Resources. If you look at the links to the right, you will notice a ?Call for Resources?. The call for materials kick-starts our new feature by welcoming submissions of both practical and research-based materials for the E-Resources site. Topics can include (but are not limited to): Assessment, Parental Involvement, Program Design, Teaching Strategies, etc. Upon submission of your materials, we will contact you by e-mail to advise you of selection for the site and the posting date. This means that if you have discovered a ?Best Practice? or an effective intervention that has benefitted you in bilingual education and would therefore, benefit your colleagues, this is the place to share it. We will also post any future materials from speakers on this site. It will be set up by topic.
In addition to this new feature, we are also adding E-Forum, multilingual and multicultural interactive learning community (a communications portal regarding best practices). It is a place where members can chat, comment on materials found in the E-Resources and benefit by the experiences of sharing the wealth of knowledge all of you possess! It is also a place where members can reach out and ask for input as they encounter new situations or challenges. Last, but not least, it is a place where you can contribute to your association and your profession by sharing your experience.
